i finally saw it and let me tell you it was ... whoa! in my book ranks up there with the road and children of men it earned extra cookie points for the characters: finally, teenagers who act like bloody teenagers! take that hollywood! for such a blood and guts movie, i was not appalled by all the gory stuff - it made sense. and a big thank you for that. i am so sick of movies, especially the shoot-them-up/ slash'em/ torture'em just to fill up the time. here is pretty simple and the reactions are very understandable. you know, take a bunch of 15 years old and throw them into this murderous game - they'd yell, be confused, scream, cry, kill each other off and wreak general mayhem -just like in the movie. the girl with the sickle also gets extra extra points for being a major bad ass. she had some potential  - too bad she got offed. of course, there is plenty of melodrama, because they're TEENAGERS and TEENAGERS are known for many things but not for being reasonable.
also, it's another great lesson on why the aliens won't invade us - mainly because we're evil and violent.
