back to an older obsession

neil gaiman sayeth "If I were making 'American Gods,' which I'm not, I'd probably want to do it as a HBO miniseries or something because I don't know if you really can squeeze it into a film," he said. "I keep getting phone calls from eminent directors and producers saying, 'We've read 'American Gods,' it would make an amazing movie, how would you squeeze it into film shape?' And if I could have squeezed it into film shape, I would have written it as a film script! It's huge, and it's meant to be huge". You know, they made an epic LotR movie. Like... you could do one yourself. For Gods' sake, it would be awesome and it deserves the big screen! Stardust was so great and so was Coraline, why not American Gods? WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY?!?!?!?!?!!!!!!!!!
Also, i want Peter Stormare for Chernobog (i don't care what producers have to do. Beg, promise eternal servitude and your first born child, you just have to give the man this part) and Stellan Skarsgard for Wednesday. Because, hello, he's fabulous, norse and a gemini. and Odin was, after all, the rough equivalent of Mercury so don't you tell me Stellan can't play it. Bonus: he's the daddy of Eric the Awesome. For Shadow, it's either Dominic Purcell or The Rock. Yep, The Rock was actually OK in Southland Tales.

sunday bloody sunday

roman polanski got arrested after 31 years. like...omgwtf?!?
also, i think i like cillian murhy a lot. not only because he's pretty (because he is!) but also he did a good job in sunshine. yep, that danny boyle movie. that's my kind of sci-fi. although, must admit that the ending could have been better. and this is why i went to sleep at 1 a.m. last night.
in other news.. more "the road". nick cave on the soundtrack? i love the idea. also this is part of my personal "give viggo an oscar" campaign. the man totally deserves it.

this is one of those particularly bad days

and i was prepared to write it off like that but then it just dawned on me that it's THAT time of the year in which things inherently go somewhere between weird and really bad. The after-equinox period in which tides turn, balance changes and chaos ensues on a personal scale. and as much i'd like to quietly drink some tea and listen to a nice story for the next month or so, i won't be able to. fine, i know this is a time for reflection and reaping! the whole hammer-hitting is still obnoxious, though. especially when i'm exhausted the way i am right now.

matchmaker, matchmaker find me a match

Traditional astrological wisdom holds that Libras are most compatible with Gemini, Leo, Libra Sagittarius and Aquarius, and least compatible with Aries, Cancer, Capricorn and Pisces. But what do the actual marriage and divorce statistics say?

Mathematician Gunter Sachs conducted a large-scale study of sun signs and found statistically significant results on a number of measures. Marriage and divorce findings are outlined below.

venus in virgo love declaration

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways:
(1) We are intellectually compatible, even though I find your lack of current political knowledge annoying.
(2) I love you in the sense that you fulfill most of my emotional needs in a reasonably timely and accurate way.
(2a) Although I admit you’ve been a mild disappointment recently.
(3) I feel romantic impulses towards you, mostly.

That’s how I love thee: accurately and efficiently.

... yes, i do lists with numbers. yes, i exhibit most of the traits listed above which fall in the category "you're mostly awesome, with the exception of some really annoying traits". what?

true blood news

Alan Ball gave away the biggest clue to "" season 3 by spilling on who took Bill at the end of the second season. In his revealing interview with Michael Ausiello of Entertainment Weekly, the creator of the vampire series even offered the question himself. [Spoiler Alert] He said, the person using silver chain to abduct Bill was Hoyt's mother, Maxine.

Whether he was joking or not, the possibility seemed distant because Maxine hardly has any motive to take Bill as hostage. Also, the mysterious person wore a pair of black gloves while holding the silver chain, which leads to the speculation that it may as well be someone who is susceptible to silver, vampires. (ERIC COMES TO MIND FOR NO REASON WHATSOEVER HERE. IT'S NOT LIKE HE SAID HE'LL TAKE CARE OF BILL PERSONALLY)

Ball was indeed in teasing mode when he conducted the interview with EW, confirming some things but stopping when it came to the spoilery bits. Asked why Eric did not play a big part on the September 13 finale, he said "There is a reason for not seeing Eric in the last part of the episode (no, there is no absolutely no reason for that...), but if I explain it, I'll be [giving away] too much." He added that Eric will still be a major character in the third season. (YAY!)

Among those he confirmed to be a story in third season are 'what Sookie really is', 'Queen Sophie-Anne meets King of Mississippi', 'Sam's blood relatives', 'Fellowship of the Sun still exists', 'possible Jason-Tara romance', 'vulnerable Lafayette' and 'Hoyt and Jessica have problems'.(what about the eric sookie romance? dude, the book says they end up together so you'd better do that)

Most importantly, Ball gave an update on the production, saying they have "broken four episodes" and he has "sent writers out to write scripts over the hiatus." Revealing that shooting will begin before Christmas, Ball predicted season 3 will come around the same time as season 2, which is June next year. (WHY SO LATE, I HATE YOU PEOPLE!! I HAVE TO WAIT AN ENTIRE YEAR FOR THE THIRD SEASON??)

On another news, Tony-winning actor Denis O'Hare has been cast to be King of Mississippi.

season 2 finale of true blood

there is blood galore! and dead maenads! and raging bulls! And Eric plays that dice game with the vampire queen of Louisiana! Because Eric is that awesome - also, the grey suit helps! also, Bill proposes to Sookie while Eric isn't looking but we're left with the question "who strangled the vampire?". So it's all back to square one and now i can't wait for season 3!

blame the planets

found this astrology blog that's really nice and provides more fuel for my personal "blame the planets" game.
"I’m going to touch lightly on Uranus/Mercury aspects because these show up in the charts of those with lots of intelligence, occasionally bordering on genius. These individuals can operate at such a different level than most people it’s hard for them to find something to talk about over coffee or drinks. The “common” touch is often missing making it hard for them to relate to others. Their challenge is to find someone who can talk their language." says Neith. I'm not that difficult in appearance (because i do have this ascendant/moon/venus trine) but there are indeed very few people i can relate to. as in extremely few. i'm not sure about being a genius, but i do have mercury conjunct uranus.
Also, Neith says "
With Uranus conjunct the Descendant, we draw partners who are often brilliant and unpredictable. The challenge here for someone who desires a stable, durable relationship is to incorporate those qualities into themselves . . ." Brilliant AND unpredictable. That describes like... most relationships i had. Fine, with SOME exceptions where the unpredictable factor outweighed the brilliance (which other people interpreted as complete fruitiness but that's just subjective).
and i still haven't forgotten the all mighty pluto. what? obsessionnnnnnnnnnn.... that's the name of the game. add obsession to erratic and you get prolonged drama. because pluto can't and won't let go.

waning moon and its tribulations

i think i will also break up with the hair stylist. i think she didn't get the part in which i am not going there to have my hair shortened by several centimeters. now the bangs in front are cheek length (oh, the horror! the shame!). and no matter how much i am trying to think that it's good for my hair and that anyway most of it is still a decent length, i am still depressed. i'd like a hair stylist like captain shakespeare - one who actually makes your hair longer and shinier.
note to self for later: next time i'll go to a stylist i will first check their hearing capacity and their IQ. also, i will choose an obedient person who does what s/he is told: i.e. i want my hair long and even and i don't care about your personal opinion. experiement on your own hair if you want. period.

fashion trends i really really don't like

as a matter of fact i'm against fashion trends in general since they usually turn into uniforms. ugly ones, what's more. ugh. so here we go:
bright intense colors such as mauve, fuchsia, stoplight green, bright pink aren't for everyone. no really, they're annoying.
big bags. especially big bags with blings all over them, they're not feminine, not elegant not anything. they're just ugly. plus, you don't really need them unless you intend to put half your house inside.
animal prints. geez, where do i start? in my entire life i saw only one animal print blouse that was nice and it was worn with a simple beige skirt. awesome. the rest of them are just so goddamn tacky and they make you look like a cheap version of sheena the queen of the jungle. or desert.
jeans are not elegant wear, i don't care what designers say. skinny jeans are by default a fashion crime since 99% of women wearing them look like hell. honestly, unless you have those perfect photoshopped legs, don't bother. also, the hideous lovechild of jeans and harem pants that was so in this summer - stop wearing them. same goes for your boyfriend's jeans. unless you happen to wear the same size, don't go out like that. and don't roll the cuffs. if some idiotic celebrity jumped over a bridge would you do the same?
short pants aren't meant to be worn with heels. also, shorts with creases who come just above the knee make no sense. you look like a retarded schoolboy. wear instead hotpants, capris, whatever.
lots of jewelry looks nice if you happen to live in India or Arabia. in any other circumstances ... well... less is more. same goes for lots of everything - make up, revealing clothes, patterns and the rest.
big shoulders didn't look good in the 80's and they won't look any better now.
gladiator sandals with heels are against nature
macrame boots make me shudder

would you look at that

gruber's journey. why is marcel iures the fabulous in this movie? the trailer looks really bad... but i am still going to see it. just for the cause.

it has more swear words in the trailer than a tarantino trailer. just so you know.

when i grow up and win the lottery

aside from the obvious (buy a house with its own power generator and water supply and without neighbours - fine! i'll have neighbours but they won't live in the same building, thus won't interfere with my life. and then travel the world for a year or two. the last part involves all tropical destinations available. what?) i will also:
make my own tango bar. where people will listen just tango/bossanova/etc, will dress up nicely and dance not jump around. and there is going to be candlelight and general retro atmosphere and i will have draconian rules about who is allowed in. which might actually be good for business.
set up a foundation for young actors/directors/ stuff. i meant people who like acting. because there's a need of something like that around here.
make my tristan and isolde movie. with the above actors. because yes! they can! and it's going to be so awesome!

feeling better now

because Sean Bean is back. and he's part of my dreamteam (ok, fine, my dreamteam is growing rapidly to the size of an LotR army). so he's starring a new HBO series where he's King and also he'll be Zeus. An Aries' dream, let me tell y'all. Also, he'll be Lord Illingworth in a "Woman of no Importance". Oscar is so in.

oldies but goldies

i'd like to add some new items on the dislikes lists.
1. not having hot water. for two damn weeks. it's not fun boiling pans of water everyday and using a sponge to clean myself. especially the hair that i have to rise with cold water. i don't feel like dancing afterward.
2. neighbors. especially the nosy old ones who think they have the right to meddle and rule your life because incidentally they live in the same building as you do. and unfortunately i can't pretend they don't exist, especially when they decide to stop the cold water as well over idiotic reasons. and since vampire eric is not available i will just have to deal with this whole situation in the ways i see fit. firstly, giving up on every trace of politeness since that wasn't ever reciprocated. age didn't bring them any wisdom. honestly, i dislike them THAT much.
