neil gaiman awesomeness
from his blog: how to talk to girls at parties (the title alone is great!)
from the dreaming: snow, glass, apples (one of my favourite horror stories)
also, last night i saw "rendition". uh hmmm... i was impressed. really. it was an interesting take on "humans are paranoid and blood thirsty creatures". some people would say it's about the whole was on terror business, but this is just another justification for violence and intolerance. same story as a few centuries ago when they hunted witches and heretics. what's most interesting is that everyone is basically to blame in this movie - the us for torturing people on basically the same premises as the inquisition did a few centuries ago (we had a hunch! your neighbor told us you were flying on a broom and cursing cattle) while the radicals are bombing people in the street. *sigh. both camps stuck firmly in their beliefs and unwilling to let the arms down. like i said, aliens are v afraid of us because if we get to them the whole district 9 scenario will take place.
